What is the one-minute paper?

The OMP (alternatively known as the ‘minute paper’ or ‘half-sheet response’) is typically assigned at the end of a class, and requires each student to briefly write down answers to two questions, generally:

(1) What was the most important thing you learned in class today?

(2) What question is unanswered?

As the name suggests, students are given a minute or two to complete the exercise. After collecting the papers, the lecturer reads the answers and ideally responds to them in the next class, or privately on an individual basis.
